SL 606 Sunglasses — Gold/Green

Saint Laurent has spent the Anthony Vaccarello era making eyewear that behaves like outerwear — pieces sized to dominate a face rather than sit politely on one. The SL 606 is among the most uncompromising of them: a 66mm rectangle in gold-tone metal with a flat brow bar carried straight across the top, temples mounted low at the outer corners, and a stance that reads closer to a shield than a conventional frame. It is a large, deliberate, unmistakably contemporary piece of Parisian eyewear.

The frame is gold-tone stainless steel in colourway 004, fitted with green nylon lenses offering full UVA/UVB protection. Adjustable metal nose pads sit beneath a single bridge, the Saint Laurent logo is engraved into each temple rather than printed on, and the temple tips are finished in tortoiseshell acetate. 

Most oversized eyewear buys its presence with plastic. The SL 606 does it with metal and negative space instead: the frame is physically large but visually thin, so it holds the scale without the weight or the costume quality that usually comes with it.
