Rick Owens built the Cantilever heel into one of the house's most enduring engineering signatures — a sculptural counterbalance that lets weight sit forward of the foot with no conventional heel breast beneath it. Reworked for FW24 Porterville, the Cantilever 8 Twisted Sandal carries that architecture into a warm-weather register, wrapped in Owens' language of draped, gathered leather rather than the harder silhouettes the house is often known for.

The upper is cut from blister lamb leather, its surface deliberately crackled and uneven so no two skins read quite the same, then twisted into a thick strap that wraps the bridge of the foot and a second that crosses the toes, leaving a square, elongated toe exposed. A calf leather footbed and cow leather sole carry through underneath, set on the 8cm cantilever heel that gives the shoe its lift. The Cantilever heel remains one of the more quietly radical pieces of footwear engineering to come out of the house — an optical trick that reads as the shoe floating just off true.
