Bombé Sunglasses — Brown Acetate
Private Clients receive first access to new acquisitions in your size and favorite houses.
Phoebe Philo opened her own house in 2023, five years after leaving Céline, and set it up on her own terms: small, considered releases sold directly, with no wholesale partners and no seasonal churn. Eyewear has become one of the label's most legible categories, and the Bombé is its clearest statement. The name is French for domed, and the frame does exactly that, swelling outward from the face instead of sitting flat against it, so the shape is built from volume rather than outline.
The frame is cut from deep brown acetate, polished to a dense, even finish that shows its thickness at every edge. The front is domed and slightly oversized, wrapping gently toward the temples, and the dark brown tinted lenses follow the same curve so the whole face reads as one rounded form. The temples are extra-wide and angular, flat planes of acetate that meet the front at a hard corner and give the softness of the dome something to push against.
What it reads as is a sculpture that happens to sit on the face: the curved front of a shield frame cut in the heavy acetate of an architect's glasses. The brown acetate Bombé has completely sold out at Phoebe Philo, with restocks offered only by waitlist, which makes this colorway genuinely difficult to find. Brown acetate, dark brown lenses. Standard fit.
