Snatched Large Leather Shoulder Bag — Black

Maison Margiela's design language has always prized process over ornament — visible construction, exposed seams, the mechanism left in view rather than dressed up. Snatched, introduced in the house's AW19 Artisanal Collection, is that instinct built into a bag: an asymmetric, origami-derived shape that folds from shoulder bag to clutch depending on how the hand engages it, with nothing added to explain the transformation.

This is the Large size, dated to the house's 2020 collection, in polished black leather with silver-tone hardware. A perforated handle at the face does double duty as grip and fold-point; a foldover flap secures with a slide-lock fastening rather than a conventional clasp. The strap detaches and adjusts, moving the bag between shoulder and crossbody, and the interior carries a zip pocket set against tonal suede lining. Made in Italy, arriving new with tags and never worn.

Margiela rarely explains a design decision twice — the fold does the talking here, the way it's meant to on every Snatched that's followed it since.
