Sim Card Pouch — Black

Jonathan Anderson built JW Anderson's accessories reputation on objects that are jokes with real leather behind them: the Pigeon Clutch first, then the Frog Clutch that arrived with the Fall 2023 menswear collection. The SIM card pouch draws on that same show's vocabulary, where an oversized SIM card served as the invitation and then moved onto necklines and into leather jeans, replacing the jacron label. Where the animal clutches are sculpted and loud, this one is flat, graphic and quiet. The gag is a single patch, not a silhouette.

The body is grained lambskin in black, cut as a flat zip-top pouch that measures 10 by 13.5 inches and only a quarter inch deep, so it carries like a document sleeve rather than a bag. A SIM card graphic patch sits on the front face, and the back holds a silver-tone JW Anderson logo stamp. The zip closes along the top and is finished with logo-engraved silver-tone hardware. Inside, a faux-suede lining runs matte against the textured exterior. The pouch was made in Hungary.

It reads as a telecom giveaway translated into lambskin, a piece of tech packaging promoted to a luxury object without changing its logic. Part document sleeve, part clutch, it keeps the Anderson habit of treating an ordinary object with total seriousness until it turns slightly absurd. In black, with the logo kept to the back, it is the restrained counterpart to the pigeon and the frog. One size.
