Cropped Cable-Knit Vest — Green, Size XS

Etro is a Milan house, founded in 1968, whose women's knitwear is still sold largely on pattern: paisley detailing, floral embroidery, medallion jacquards, mohair capes with animal motifs. This vest argues the opposite case. It drops the print and the embroidery and gives the surface over to a single deep forest green, so the decoration is structural rather than pictorial. The sleeveless, cropped cut also separates it from the longer cardigans and wraps that carry most of the house's knit story, and makes it a layering component rather than a finished garment.

The cable work is the whole surface. Twisted cable relief runs through the body in one tonal green, giving the knit weight and shadow without a second color, and ribbed bands finish the hem, the neckline and both armholes, so the edges are defined by a firmer, flatter texture than the cables around them. The V-neck is cut deep, which keeps the cropped front open over a shirt or a slip dress.
