Sport 1 Shield Sunglasses — Rust / Bronze

John Galliano's Dior eyewear ran on spectacle, and the Sport 1 is among its clearest statements — one of a small group of shields the house built in the early 2000s alongside the Ski and Golf visors, all borrowing their logic from ski goggles and motorsport eyewear and pushing it somewhere far more theatrical. Two decades on it remains one of the most consistently hunted pieces from the era, and one of the few that dealers still routinely misidentify.
The lens wraps the face in a single uninterrupted curve, in Dior's Bronze tint — a warm brown gradient that pulls reddish, almost burgundy, depending on the light falling across it. The frame carries the house's Rust finish, a warm metallic bronze-copper, coded HOL against the P0 lens on the temple stamp. Circular Dior logo plaques anchor each side, and they do more than brand the piece: the wire temples retract and fold away inside them, collapsing the glasses into a near-flat shield. Made in Italy, and genuinely one-size — built to sit tight against the face rather than perch on the nose.
It reads as sport equipment reimagined as couture — the visor borrowed wholesale, then executed in a metallic colorway no athlete would ever be issued. That collision is the entire Galliano-era Dior argument compressed into one object, and it's increasingly hard to find intact. One size.
