PUNK
The ‘Punk’ sunglasses are among the most recognizable frames to emerge from John Galliano’s tenure at Christian Dior — a wraparound shield silhouette conceived for the Spring/Summer 2003 collection at the peak of his maximalist reign at the house. In mirror green, this example is among the most coveted colorways the model was produced in. It features:
- Full wraparound goggle/shield silhouette with complete lens coverage
- Mirror green lens in lightweight plastic with a reflective, high-visibility finish
- Slim, unembellished temple arms for a clean profile
- Secure wraparound fit designed to sit flush to the face
- Signature Dior branding engraved on temple
The construction is deliberate — lightweight, durable, and entirely democratic in its material. Galliano’s Dior was always in conversation with the street alongside the runway, and the Punk sunglasses represent that synthesis at its most resolved.
Galliano’s Spring 2003 collection took the raw energy of punk subculture and processed it through the Dior atelier — the frames that emerged have appreciated steadily in cultural relevance over the two decades since. The mirror green lens reads as reflective armor: the wearer sees everything; no one sees them. They surface rarely in this colorway, and they sell.
