One of the defining frames of John Galliano's Dior: the S/S 2003 "Punk" wraparound shield, from the season he ran punk subculture through the atelier and came out with reflective armour.
On This Piece
The "Punk" is one of the most recognisable frames of John Galliano's tenure at Christian Dior, designed for the Spring/Summer 2003 collection at the peak of his maximalist reign. That season Galliano ran the raw energy of punk subculture through the Dior atelier, and the eyewear that came out of it was built as armour rather than accessory.
A full wraparound shield silhouette with complete lens coverage, the silver mirror lens running uninterrupted across the face. Slim, unembellished temple arms keep the profile clean, and the shape is cut to sit flush against the face for a secure wraparound fit. Dior branding is engraved at the temple rather than applied. Made in Italy.
Galliano's Dior was always in conversation with the street as much as the runway, and the Punk is that synthesis at its most resolved. The silver mirror reads as reflective armour: the wearer sees everything, and no one sees them. Two decades on, the frame has only grown in cultural weight, and it surfaces rarely. One size.
