Cut-Out Cropped Twill Bomber Jacket — Cream, Size XS

Coperni built its reputation on cut-outs applied to soft, body-conscious pieces, like the Pre-Fall 2022 stretch jersey dress with its open bodice. For Resort 2023, Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant carried that same device onto a utilitarian staple and made it rigid. This bomber is the house working in a technical register rather than a draped one: the openings are cut into a gathered front on a mid-weight, non-stretch twill, so skin shows through structure instead of through give. It is a sportswear block treated with the label's logic of exposure, and it sits well apart from the jersey cut-outs that came before it.

The shell is cream polyamide twill with a faint sheen, cropped high and finished with ribbed-knit trims at the hem and cuffs. A two-way zip runs the full front, so the jacket opens from the bottom as readily as from the top. Across the chest the twill is gathered into symmetrical cut-outs, with a flap pocket worked into the paneling around each opening. The sleeves carry a zip-fastened utility pocket and a Coperni logo patch, and the body is lined in acetate and viscose, which keeps the interior smooth. It was made in Portugal.

Read quickly, it is a flight jacket with the openings of a cocktail top. The flap pockets and the sleeve zip pocket are pure utility, while the cut-outs and the cropped proportion belong to eveningwear thinking. It reads as outerwear that behaves like a garment, a hybrid of sportswear block and sculpted bodice, made to be worn over very little else. Size XS.
