Silvia Venturini Fendi's Fall/Winter 2021 menswear — the season she returned to the men's line as Kim Jones took over womenswear — treated outerwear as an exercise in familiarity with a twist: classic shapes, roomier cuts and small structural subversions in place of the logo-heavy statements the house is often known for. This blouson is one of the clearest examples, a down puffer cut to the lines of a work shirt and finished in Bitter, Fendi's name for a deep burnt orange-red.

Satin-nylon shell with a smooth, almost liquid hand and a strong sheen, quilted in diagonal panels that spread the down evenly across the body so it holds its volume without bunching. A pointed collar sits over a concealed button placket, and black contrast piping edges the cuffs and the welt pockets at both hips and the chest. Fully reversible to a glossy black side, with Bitter satin framing the placket and cuffs — one move turns a colour statement into a black puffer. Made in Italy.

It reads as a chore coat that happens to be a puffer: the collar and pocket layout come straight from workwear, the satin and down from luxury skiwear.
